At Channel Insurance Brokers, we pride ourselves on having a team that truly understands the unique insurance needs of Guernsey and Jersey residents. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce our newest team member, Rachel Le Prevost, who joins us as a Senior Personal Insurance Broker.
With her extensive experience and deep local knowledge, Rachel is here to provide expert advice and friendly guidance on everything from home and motor insurance to specialist cover for island life. To help you get to know Rachel better, we asked her a few questions about her career, her insights on insurance, and what she loves most about living in the Channel Islands.
What inspired you to pursue a career in insurance, and what do you enjoy most about your role as a Senior Personal Insurance Broker?
Insurance is an industry which has lots of opportunities and room for personal development.
As a broker, I enjoy helping clients arrange insurance to meet their needs and help them understand the policies they are purchasing.
How do you think living in the Channel Islands influences the type of insurance advice you give?
Living on an island, there are different factors that you need to consider when buying an insurance policy, compared to purchasing a policy in the mainland. For example, connecting flight cover under a travel insurance policy or contents cover which includes cover for university students studying off island.
Purchasing a policy through a local broker will help you ensure your needs are met.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone in Guernsey or Jersey looking to review their personal insurance?
There have been premium increases across most insurance policies, remember to review what voluntary excess options are available to help discount the policy!
What’s your favourite thing about living in Guernsey? Do you have any favourite spots?
My favourite thing about living in Guernsey is that you are never too far from a beach and my favourite spot has to be Bordeaux beach, where I grew up.
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work that might surprise people?
I have been a member of the Guernsey Majorettes for 18 years! We compete 2-3 times a year in the UK against other troupes.
I have also recently started basketball after taking an interest during the Island Games.
What’s one thing you can’t live without (besides your phone or computer!)?
Holidays! I love hopping off the rock and seeing new places.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Don’t count the days, make the days count.
